Eileen Garcia-Sanchez
Esposas Militares Hispanas USA Armed Forces Board Member & Treasurer
San Antonio, Texas Area
I am a Texas State University alumni (B.S. Aquatic Biology; 2013-2017), of which I was a member/treasurer of the H.E.A.T. Establishment and Social Media coordinator for two residence halls. H.E.A.T. is a service organization dedicated to improving humanitarian, environmental, and animal welfare issues through Positive Activism. My time with H.E.A.T. allowed me to work on various local projects and travel to Costa Rica for a 2 week service project in reforestation, marine conservation, and early-childhood education. As social media coordinator for the residence halls I worked in, I created and faciliated Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. I created and posted content that encouraged residents to become involved with residence life.
I am the oldest of three in a Puerto Rican household with ties to the U.S. military. My mother, Janet Sanchez, is the founder and president of Esposas Militares Hispanas USA (EMHUSA) and my father is a recently retired MSG in the U.S Army.
I am a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer for EMHUSA. This is a volunteer non-profit organization that helps military families with language barriers. Today, the organization reaches 8,000 members and continues to grow. Recently, a sub-committee was created for the children of these military families. Military Brats by EMHUSA was created to give the children a place where they can connect with others who have parents in the military around the world and find resources that range from how to deal with moving around a lot to educatioal opportunities.
