With each passing election, claims of potential Latino political influence increase and efforts to harness that influence grow. But despite the existence of a “Latino vote” it has become increasingly difficult to express a Latino voice in political outcomes, particularly as it relates to immigration.

Noticeably absent in these conversations is the prominent leadership needed to mobilize Latinos and make their case nationally. With nearly 60 million Latinos in the U.S. representing almost 20 percent of the population, the importance of Latino leadership and the need to understand the complicated Latino/a political identity has never been greater. More importantly, how do we ensure that this actively engaged Latino base can translate its passion and voice into action on election days?

In this exclusive one-on-one fireside chat with DREAMERs Roadmap founder Sarahi Espinoza Salamanca, renowned NBC and Telemundo anchor Jose Diaz Balart will discuss the need for Latino civic and electoral participation, the current political currents that are driving attitudes, the national rhetoric surrounding the immigrant community, and the political dimensions that are increasingly threatening the viability of the nation’s Latino population.
