Hugo Balta is the Senior Director of Hispanic Initiatives at ESPN.

Hugo’s work focuses on identifying opportunities for ESPN teams to collaborate in the development and production of content relevant to U.S. Hispanics in English and Spanish across all platforms and networks.

Hugo is a Diversity and Inclusion media consultant who implements intersectional thinking in transforming corporate cultures to develop new processes in serving multicultural audiences.
His nearly 25 year, award winning career includes leadership positions at CBS, Telemundo and NBC networks before joining ESPN in 2011.

Mr. Balta is a member of and sits on several national and local boards of organizations which focus on the fair and accurate treatment of minority communities. They include the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), an organization he served as president, was inducted to the Hall of Fame and founded the Hortencia Zavala Scholarship to benefit NAHJ students.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Seton Hall University and has completed prestigious executive leadership graduate programs at the University of Virginia and Columbia University.

Mr. Balta is a resident of Central Connecticut where he lives with his wife and two children.
